For The “Little Ones”

Creation Family Ministries assists churches in ministering to all ages. However, due to the amount and type of information we share in our meetings, much of it would be “over the heads” of preschoolers ages 4-5 or younger.  It is for this reason that we ask churches which have a prominent preschool group of 5 or more to prepare for a separate special time with them especially during Rally Time.  We suggest putting together a schedule for Rally Time that involves memory work on one or two verses from the handbook, a video time (we have some suggested ones with us), a color time (coloring sheets may be downloaded from http://answersingenesis.org/kids), and a song time. In addition, while “Mr. Jeff” speaks to the older ones, “Mrs. Heather” is available to visit the preschoolers for a brief and special time with them. Depending on the size of your group, they are more than welcome to join the older ones during Opening and Story times.

VBS Philosophy of CFM

The philosophy of Creation Family Ministries concerning VBS:

  1. VBS is a “revival week for children” that encourages and strengthens their faith.  We encourage churches to make VBS week a “Family VBS” in which we can minister to teens and adults during class time.
  2. VBS is an important week of evangelism for children who are either churched or un-churched.
  3. VBS is an important break for church workers who often are already over-worked.  We try to do most of the prep work for you.
  4. “Fun with purpose.”  Fun things we do with the children (e.g. songs, competition, games) serve to create a good memory of church.  Not everything in life is “fun,” but it is important to leave a lasting impression in the child’s mind of a good time at church.
  5. We use God’s creation and His Word hand-in-hand to strengthen the faith of those who already know Him and to invite those who do not yet know Christ as Savior to come to Him.  Strengthening the faith of those who know Christ will naturally result in a stronger witness for Him and a greater desire to live for Him.

Living Arrangements

The Setzers live full time in a 34’ fifth wheel (3 slide outs) which serves as both home and office on the road.  For this unit, we need an RV-friendly electrical connection of 50 amps/220 service (30 amps is sufficient in cooler temps) and an available water connection.  A sewer connection is not necessary, unless there are local restrictions on sink water (“grey water”) being allowed to run out on the ground.  Parking our “RV House” on the church property is nearly a necessity due to the amount of materials that we set up, such as:

Wilderness Wonders Décor

This theme is a “woodsy” theme that emphasizes creatures of the forest and creatures thought to be extinct.  Decoration for classrooms and other areas can include the Yellowstone creatures (bears, bison, moose), pterosaurs, mammoths, and “Bigfoot” (or the ape kind).  Posters of animals or stuffed animals (possibly borrowed) and lots of artificial plants or trees will greatly add to the décor for the week.  Helpers will be needed before the week to assist the Setzers with carrying materials into the church.  Also, helpers will be needed after the Thursday closing program.

The Setzers come on a love offering basis as “missionaries to young people,” requesting a pre-summer deposit which helps to defray costs of printed materials (handbooks, promotional items such as banners yard signs, flyers, post cards) and awards.  The penny offering taken during the opening each day/night of VBS can help meet those expenses.  As missionaries, we ask that each church consider adding CFM to their missionary family.

The economy, including increased fuel prices recently has “nudged” us to request a deposit for the VBS.  This year, we are requesting $300-500 (depending on your budget).  Whatever can be sent ahead of time will help in providing for the entire summer!  Please send a check made out to “CFM” to:
